Connection Doctor FAQ

Concise answers for players and server owners using this ServerBuddy utility.

What port does a Minecraft server use?

Java servers usually use TCP port 25565. Bedrock servers usually use UDP port 19132, though hosts and server owners can choose different ports.

Can this tool test whether my port is open?

Yes. It performs a Minecraft status probe from ServerBuddy infrastructure and reports whether the selected Java or Bedrock target responded.

Should I forward both TCP and UDP?

Forward TCP for Java and UDP for Bedrock unless your server software or host says otherwise. Crossplay proxies can require additional setup.
